I have been creating for as long as I can remember. Creativity was encouraged and nurtured both within my family and at school. I began writing stories when I was eight or nine; I began taking music lessons about the same time, along with many other forms of artistic expression. I have been a quilter since 1991. I have been a professional quilt pattern designer, teacher, lecturer, and writer for the past fifteen years. After a twenty-year career in Mental Health and Social Services, I left full-time work in 2004 and established Something Sew Fine Quilt Design. My patterns sell nationally and internationally. I am now semi-retired but continue to quilt, write, and dabble in art.
I grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but have lived in New Hampshire for more than fifty years with my husband, Ron. I have spent almost every summer of my life at the “little cabin by the lake” and the small village near the White Mountains where my first novel, “After the Storm,” is set and where part of my second and third novels in Hannah's Legacy trilogy are also set. That part of New Hampshire is near and dear to my heart.
I have spent time exploring parts of northern Arizona, including Flagstaff and the surrounding area where most of “Sarah’s Quest” is set, and have done much research on the early history of the Arizona Territories. It is an area that fascinates me.
I have a BA in Sociology and Anthropology and an M.Ed. in Counseling. I have taken many professional courses and workshops in a variety of subjects, ranging from history to art and creative writing. My interests include quilting (of course), gardening, landscape design, photography, travel, visiting with my friends and family, and playing with our rescue dog, named Nixie. My husband and I will soon celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary!
